Workshop Build Out

For Thanksgiving this year we went and visited my parents. They are under two hours away and part of our bubble during the COVID-19 pandemic. They recently bought a new house and I helped my dad to configure his woodworking shop.

Due to space constraints the miter saw and saw table are staying in the garage while other tools are expected to end up in a work shop. Unfortunately the workshop does not have enough space for the saw table and the larger lumber.

The miter saw is mounted on a Rigid MS-UV. This folds up to store and can be rolled to a location and extended out for making cuts. Because the miter saw is not a Rigid model we needed to create an adapting piece for the miter saw to sit on and used a scrap piece of wood.

For the saw table we created a reinforced platform with sunken locking casters.
The major advantage is that my dad will be able to roll the table saw under storage shelves in the garage. The disadvantage is that this raises the cutting surface of the saw table. So, when using this my dad may end up using a step for better angle of attack on the saw table.
At this point the saw table is mobile and in the background the extended miter platform is visible.
The miter saw being folded for storage is visible.
The last thing we worked on a mobile platform for was the drill press.
We went for a simple box design.
Again we have locking casters.
We carefully measured the height for the drill press platform.
The drill press is mobile so that it can be rolled around the workshop room.
