Bathroom Improvements while Renting

So, first, I'll start with a mistake.

I bought these  InterDesign Axis Loop Shower Curtain Hooks from Bed Bath & Beyond because I really liked the look. And I still do like the look and there have been no rust issues or anything. It's just that if you're not careful when moving the shower curtain one or two has a tendency to fall off the bar and this annoys me. So, we'll probably replace these.

One thing I strongly recommend is changing your shower head to one you'll be happy with.
For me, I'm rarely really happy with the one that an apartment comes with. And considering that this will be the shower that you use every time you need or want to shower over the course of your stay at a location I suggest it being one you like a lot.
So, I got a Moem Refresh 3-Way Combination Shower Head from Bed Bath & Beyond with a birthday gift certificate from my aunt and uncle last year, I regret not having done so sooner. I like it a lot. They're really not that expensive, shower heads for a more rain water / wide head style one will run you $30 - $60 for a decent one. Granted, these are not super fancy and are made out of a fair amount of chrome covered plastic, but they work, and work well. This is the second place I've installed it.
All you need for install is some Vice Grips and plumbers tape.
I know I sound preachy, but I just did the change over at my new place this morning before showering and it makes the shower so much better.
Also, another reason to consider the dual head setup is if you ever shower as a couple you can use both heads, and while having reduced pressure it does eliminate a need to fight for warm water.

Lastly, we weren't sure about which to buy after trying to read online reviews but so far we're happy. We got the Glacier Bay Premium Pole Caddy at Home Depot which is twist fit instead of spring loaded tension. Installation with the twist fit was a bit tricky but once we got it it has held very well for over about a month now with no bowing or other issues. It also helps a lot with shower / bath storage providing plenty of space for shampoo, razors, soap, brushes, loofahs, shower squeegee, etc. So, quite happy with it.
Also, having it mounted on the far side from the shower head means your soap doesn't melt itself while sitting in water especially since it is metal baskets.

Also, I suggest getting a shower squeegee. I used one for a year while living in Dearborn, MI after every shower. I never once had to clean for mold. I am not one to keep the air conditioning very low and at my place in Dearborn the AC provided upstairs wasn't the best. So, to me it's worth it.
