New Computer Tools

Holly needed to remove a the band on her Garmin Forerunner 945, the old band was really beat up and she wanted to replace it with a swap-able one. After years of seeing YouTubers we watch use iFixit branded kits we finally decided it may be worth getting a set both for the watch and some of the electronics and computer work we do from time to time.

Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM @ 15 mm and f/4 and ISO 100 with 1/4 second exposure.

We bought the following items from iFixit: the Pro Tech Toolkit, a second Precision 4 mm Screwdriver Bit Torx Security TR6, and a second Precision Bit Driver, Aluminum. The watch band needs two of the torx bits and since there are two of us we wanted to drivers.

I first used the kit when doing the QNAP TS-h886 Memory Upgrade, it worked well.

We also bought a Ridgid 6 Gal. Portable Electric Pancake Compressor, which was fun to fit into the car. We bought some fittings, a hose, and a pistol grip blow gun to go with it.

Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM @ 18 mm and f/4.5 and ISO 100 with 1/10 second exposure.

Over the years, and cleaning out a lot of computers and occasionally the receiver and other electronics we have used a lot of compressed air cans. Those things are expensive. Also the cool down a lot during use and condense the air around them. We decided to just get a refillable compressor for our cleaning needs.

Granted, it is loud, and when we fill it we put it on the balcony. But we think this is a more efficient use of our money and will help us to clean things more often.
